Education, Preschools, Playgroups and Daycare Centers

If you have children of school age and are considering relocating to the British Virgin Islands, don’t worry, you won’t have to sacrifice their education as the BVI school system is accessible and of a high standard. With a selection of BVI public schools and private schools in BVI, we are confident you’ll find somewhere your child will thrive. 

There are no residential restrictions, so families relocating to the BVI can apply for admittance to the school that suits their needs.

Applications for placement in British Virgin Islands schools must be completed through the Department of Education. Applications are accepted between January and April for the start of the following school year in September and again from November through December for places in a private school for the beginning of the semester the following January.

Parents will need to submit the following supporting documents along with their application forms:

• Children’s birth certificates
• Updated immunization records
• Passport-sized photo
• Letter of good health from Road Town Clinic
• Transcripts from previously schools
• Proof of parents’ immigration status to the BVI (from passport)
• Parents’ work permit or government appointment letter, and
• Acceptance letter if children will be attending a private school.

Parents may also be requested to have their children take a placement exam in order to determine the appropriate education level.
